Wilhelm Busch was not successful from the very beginning of his career, he had to try his luck at several different projects before everything 'clicked' in this humorous picture book which excels with its black humor. Max and Moritz inspired hundreds of artists all over the world to create more provoking picture books for kids and adults.
William (Wilhelm) Busch's influence was so important, the whole new genre started to evolve after his works. He is often credited as a grandfather of comics.
