Anne Anderson (1874-1952)
Anne Anderson an was extremely prolific illustrator who was very popular in her lifetime but is slightly forgotten today. Maybe her Art Nouveau style is not widely appealing to average costumer but most of the collectors really appreciate books illustrated by this Scotish illustrator born in Argentina.
First editions of Anne Anderson's picture books are sometimes available on eBay and similar services being sold from 50 bucks or something like that and if the book is in good condition it can make a great gift to art lovers often exceeding one thousand dollars.
Anne Anderson: Rumpelstiltskin |
Anyway, I chose an illustration from Rumpelstiltskin (Old, Old Fairy Tales) with all the signature elements of Anne Anderson. Thi fairy tale belongs to the collection of brothers Grimm but is also known as The Miller's Daughter in Anglo-Saxon world.
It's good to know Anne Anderson made a lot of picture postcards, unfortunatelly mostly uncredited what makes difficult to find them for the collectors.
